Google Pixel Watch 4: power, health, and Gemini on your wrist
Index
Google introduced its new generation of smartwatches, and the Pixel Watch 4 is without a doubt its most ambitious yet. This is not just an aesthetic refinement, but a package that combines premium design, more advanced health features, and full integration with Gemini.

Design and display
The most noticeable change is the display: Google calls it “Actua 360,” and it is essentially a domed panel with more usable surface area and thinner bezels. It reaches up to 3,000 nits of brightness, making it one of the most readable watches in direct sunlight. The body is made from recycled aluminum, protected by Gorilla Glass 5, and ready to be submerged up to 50 meters.
Performance and battery life
The new Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor makes everything feel more responsive while also consuming less power. It also includes:
- 30-hour battery life on the 41 mm model and up to 40 hours on the 45 mm model; with Battery Saver mode, they could reach 48 and 72 hours depending on the model.
- Battery Saver mode that extends battery life to 2 or 3 days.
- Ultra-fast charging: 50% in just 15 minutes.
Health and fitness
Advanced features such as loss-of-pulse detection, ECG, stress monitoring, and blood oxygen tracking.
Key new features:
- Skin temperature sensor for comparisons against your baseline.
- Dual-frequency GPS for greater accuracy.
- Real-time cycling stats and more than 50 new exercise modes, including sports such as basketball and pickleball.
Connectivity and AI
Google gave Gemini, its AI assistant, a starring role. You can now raise your wrist and speak to it directly to get answers, health advice, or quick directions. The experience feels much more natural and useful in everyday use. It also includes emergency satellite communication without needing a phone.
Repairability and sustainability
Both the display and the battery can be replaced without losing water resistance, something that sets it apart from other premium smartwatches.
Availability and pricing
The Pixel Watch 4 was announced on August 20 and will officially arrive on October 9.
Starting prices:
- 41 mm: from $349.
- 45 mm: from $399, with LTE versions around $100 more.
Is it worth the upgrade?
If you have a first- or second-generation Pixel Watch, the improvement is clear: a brighter display, longer battery life, more complete health features, and, above all, satellite communication. If you are coming from the Watch 3, however, the decision depends more on how much Gemini AI and repairability appeal to you.
In any case, the Pixel Watch 4 reinforces Google’s bet: a watch that does not just aim to compete with the Apple Watch, but to become the heart of its ecosystem.
